    An Overview of the monkeypox

    A zoonotic orthopoxvirus called human monkeypox has symptoms that resemble smallpox. Twelve years after the discovery of the monkeypox virus in a Danish lab in 1958, the zoonotic human monkeypox was identified in 1970. Cases outside of Africa have recently been reported, and it has spread to other parts of Africa (mainly West and Central Africa). There are enormous gaps in our knowledge of the origin, epidemiology, and ecology of the illness, which have led to an increase in the frequency and geographic distribution of human monkeypox cases in recent years. The average time of incubation was 8 days (range 4–14 days). Human monkeypox infections, including transmission from person to person, were recorded in a multi-nation outbreak in Europe and North America in May 2022.
