    Concept Analysis: Loneliness in Geriatrics at Home

    Loneliness among geriatric individuals is a critical public health concern, leading to adverse mental, physical, and social health outcomes. Senior citizens who experience isolation due to factors such as childlessness, divorce, unemployment, or the loss of loved ones are at a higher risk of developing serious medical conditions. The altered functions of the central nervous system due to inactivity, poor personal hygiene, and lack of social engagement contribute to deteriorating health in the elderly. This study explores the causes, attributes, and consequences of loneliness in geriatric populations and highlights the significance of addressing this issue through effective nursing care and preventive interventions. Applying nursing theories such as Orem's self-care deficit model can help in mitigating the negative effects of loneliness by promoting self-care and social engagement .. View More»
