Environmental studies highlight the urgency of adopting sustainable practices, conserving natural resources, and finding innovative solutions to mitigate environmental challenges (Lin X-D, et al. 2017). Environmental studies draw from various disciplines, including ecology, biology, chemistry, geology, economics, sociology, and political science. This interdisciplinary approach is essential for comprehending the complex interactions between natural systems and human society (Rihtaric D, et al. 2010). By integrating knowledge and methodologies from diverse fields, environmental studies foster a holistic understanding of environmental issues and enable the development of effective solutions.



Sustainability lies at the core of environmental studies. It emphasizes meeting present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs (Tao Y, 2019). Sustainable practices aim to minimize environmental degradation, promote social equity, and ensure economic viability.


Biodiversity refers to the variety of living organisms on Earth, from plants and animals to microorganisms. Environmental studies focus on understanding and preserving biodiversity as it plays a critical role in ecosystem stability, resilience, and the provision of ecosystem services (Environment, 2013).

Climate change

Climate change is a significant environmental challenge with far-reaching consequences. Environmental studies explore the causes, impacts, and potential solutions to mitigate climate change, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions, adapting to changing conditions, and promoting renewable energy sources (Second, 2017).

It explores approaches to optimize resource extraction, minimize waste, and promote conservation to ensure their availability for future generations.
